Senate dares Osinbajo, suspends all issues relating to confirmation of nominees;

Senate President Saraki
Senate, today, resolved to suspend all issues pertaining to confirmation of executive nominees, a development it clams to be aimed towards ensuring  that the rule of law and the doctrine of separation of powers is upheld in the country.

Posting on his Facebook page, here is what the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, had to say about it:

"Today, in order to ensure that the rule of law and the doctrine of separation of powers is upheld in Nigeria, the Senate adopted three prayers on the issue of the Senate’s powers to confirm and/or reject nominees of the Executive.
The prayers were as follows:

1. That the Senate should suspend all issues that relate to the confirmation of nominees;

2. That the Acting President must respect the Constitution and the laws enacted by the National Assembly as they relate to the confirmation of nominees; and

3. That the Acting President should respect the rejection of nominees by the Senate.

It is important that we build a society wherein all laws, not just some laws are obeyed. We must build a nation of laws, not a nation of men. Hence, it is not for us to choose which laws to obey, and which laws not to obey."
