D’Tigress, Nigeria’s senior Women Basketball team consolidated their lead by beating Egypt 106-72 in the ongoing Women Afrobasket tournament taking place in Mali.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that D’Tigress have
won three matches played as at Sunday in Group B, having six points.
Nigeria sustained its lead against Egypt from the first
quarter, which ended 20 -15 points, while the second quarter ended 50-29 points
and the third quarter ended 79-49 points against Egypt.
Evelyn Akhator of D’Tigress got 24 points with 13 rebounds,
which were the highest in the match, while she also made five assists, three
steals, and three blocks.
Akhator ‘s closest rival on the Egyptian side was Soraia
Mohamed Yahia A. Deghady, who scored 15 points, three rebounds, one assist, two
steals and no block.
Akhator is a Nigerian forward playing for Dallas Wings of
Women National Basketball Association (WNBA).
Nigeria would play its next game in the championship on
Tuesday against Guinea while D’Tigress would play the defending
