President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in the United Kingdom after leaving the United States, where he attended the 72nd United Nations General Assembly.
The President departed New York earlier on Thursday and arrived in London hours later, while he is expected to return to the country on Sunday, September 24.
While in the US, President Buhari addressed the gathering of world leaders at the UN General Assembly and also had lunch with President Donald Trump.
He had also pledged Nigeria’s solidarity to the United Nations and solicited the support of the international community in tackling global challenges.
The President had assured the international community of the country’s firm and unshaken commitment to democracy and in the African continent.
He asked the world leaders present at the gathering to cooperate and support the United Nations in order to overcome growing global threats including terrorism, modern-day slavery and cybercrime.
For President Buhari, the UNGA comes during “extraordinarily troubled and dangerous times” and it would take nothing short of concerted efforts to achieve global peace.
Comparing the situation in Myanmar’s Rakhine province to the massacres in Bosnia in 1995 and Rwanda in 1994, he urged the international community not to remain silent on the crisis.
