Although it is a known fact that Buhari's government is one which is deficient of sound mind and ethical values, but never have Nigerians nurse it could sink this rotten and insultive in its bid to placate the Igbos he has great disdain for.
The issue of overseas medicals is a sacrosanct privilege granted by the medical services and vacation provisions of the the Remuneration of Former Presidents and Heads of State And Other Ancillary Matters Act, 1999, which all entitlers have been enjoying, including Buhari before his second coming in 2015.
RFPHS Act 1999 is a law of the land, and have automatic activation as to trigger in any situation. So, Buhari does not enjoy the function to approve the medical treatment of any former Presidents, Heads of State, Vice Presidents under the Act.
The Title page and commencement Section of the Act is as clear as it can be to all right-thinking folks. And Section 5 which is the Interpretation Section already classified Heads of State as including Prime Ministers; Vice Presidents as including former Chiefs of General Staff.
Moreover, Babangida, Obasanjo, Abdulsalam, Jonathan, Shonekan, Ekwueme Gowon, Shagari and Sambo have been travelling abroad for medicals at the expense of this Act in the past years, and have all done so under Buhari's two years but were never need approval nor announcement. So, why is presidency announcing that of Sir Alex Ekwueme?
If Buhari so desired his 2019 re-election, and have plan to trick the Igbos into another dilemma come 2019 as he did to unsuspecting Nigerians in 2015, it should be done without injury to any of our laws and dignity of the revered Baba Ekwueme.
