Buhari and Fayose |
Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his 75th birthday.
The governor shunned their political differences as he celebrated the President in a video message recorded on Saturday in his office at the Government House in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
“We congratulate you as our leader, leader of our country; wishing you the best in the service of our country,” he said.

Despite being one of the long-time critics of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration, Governor Fayose commended the progress made so far by President Buhari in moving the country forward.
He was also optimistic that the President would record more achievements in his resolve to make Nigeria a great nation if his health permits him.
“We commend you for the little you have done, we believe in good health you will do more. We celebrate you and pray that God will spare your life for this country. God bless you,” he added.
The governor’s goodwill messages come less than six weeks after he complained that the President did not congratulate him on his birthday.
Fayose, who turned 57 on November 15, had said his greatest wish was to wake up to receive a congratulatory message from the President.
“I would have loved to either wake up receiving a congratulatory call from him or read it in the papers but since it is not coming, it is not a big deal to me and I take no offence on it.
“The President would have made a difference if he had extended such gesture to others beyond his political party; such a congratulatory message should have been conveyed through his Minister of Information,” the governor had said.
