Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has called on Christians in the state and Nigeria as a whole to deeply reflect on the very essence of Christmas celebration with peace and love.
The governor’s message was contained in his Christmas message to the people of the State where he called for peace and love among all humanity as a panacea for development.
The governor said, "I felicitate with our Christian brothers and sisters as they celebrate the historical birth of Jesus Christ,” adding, “The birth of Jesus is symbolic, I therefore enjoin us all in the spirit of Christmas to reflect deeply on the very essence of this celebration, which is Peace and Love.”
He called for peaceful coexistence between all religious and ethnic groups, saying, “Let us show Love and uplift one another just as the season demands and may the joy that Christmas brings herald a new beginning for our beloved nation.
“On behalf of the good people of Gombe State, "Jewel in the Savannah," I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New year," the governor’s statement reads.
