Passenger jet skids off runway and stops METRES from sea

The plane

A plane has skidded off the runway at Trazbon Airport in Turkey, ending up with its nose nearly in the sea.

According to a BBC report, no passengers or crew were hurt in the incident, which may have been caused by a bird strike, reports say.

Pegasus Airlines said that the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, flying from Ankara to Trabzon, "had a runway excursion incident".

The Pegasus Airlines flight descended into chaos when it tried to land at the ice covered Trabzon Airport in Turkey.

Panic swept through the jet’s 162 passengers when the Boeing 737-800 touched down and careered off the tarmac.

The plane then tore through grass verges before digging into mud and coming to a terrifying stop – on a cliff edge.
