Unconfirmed deaths as fresh explosions hit Borno community

Boko Haram

A number of casualties are feared to have been recorded following a series of explosions that rocked Bale Galtimari village in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State on Easter Sunday.

The explosions were said to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents who attacked the community around 8 pm shooting sporadically for about two hours.

Echoes from the gunshots and  explosions, were heard from the outskirts of the city which is about 20 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

This follows after one person was killed on Friday while 13 others injured when suicide bombers struck a village on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The attackers infiltrated Muna Zawiya village in Mafa Local Government before detonating their explosives, killing themselves and one person – a female, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Edet Okon, said in a statement.

Thirteen persons were injured and were taken to a hospital where they are responding to treatment.
