The Federal Government on Friday in Abuja organised a special Juma’at prayer at the National Mosque as part of activities scheduled to mark the 2018 Democracy Day cerebration.
The prayer, which was lead by the Murshid of the Abuja National Mosque (General Administrator), Prof. Shehu Galadanci, was attended by the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
The theme of the 2018 Democracy day is: “Peace building and good governance for sustainable development.“
Galadanci prayed for peace, end of insurgency, and sustainable development of the country in all facet of human endeavour.
The Musrhid advised all Nigerians irrespective of their political affiliation to intensify prayer for the nation’s democracy to thrive.
The cleric also stressed the need for public office holders to uphold justice and fairness while governing their followers.
Galadanci, also the general administrator of the national mosque, enjoined all Muslims to imbibe the exemplary leadership qualities of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
On his part, Saraki called on Nigerians to continue to support the government in its efforts to transform the country.
The President of the Senate said though the country was facing some challenges there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
He assured Nigerians that the government would continue to build on the progress recorded so far by the present administration and appealed to Nigerians to always exercise patience and pray for their leaders.
Earlier, Malami admonished Nigerians to continue to pray for enhance good health of President Muhammadu Buhari to enable him continue with the good work he had started. (NAN)
