President Muhammadu Buhari will tomorrow, Tuesday, undertake a four-day trip to the United Kingdom to see his doctors.
A press statement signed by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said in the course of the 'technical stop-over' for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the President had a meeting with his doctor.
The doctor, according to Shehu, requested the president to return for a meeting, which he agreed to do.
President Buhari, he further said will return to Nigeria on Saturday, May 12th.
Shehu recalled that on his return, the president’s two-day state visit to Jigawa, which was postponed because of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Ward Congresses, will now take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th of May.
The president, it would be recalled, had returned to the country, August last year, after more than 100 days in the United Kingdom, where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
President Buhari had left Nigeria on May 7 for London for a second round of treatment for an undisclosed ailment. He had earlier left Nigeria on January 19 for London to “undergo routine medical check-ups” during a short holiday. He only returned on March 10 after an extended period of medical treatment.
The president, according to reports, had tacitly acknowledged that he was very ill when he told his cabinet members that “I couldn’t recall being so sick since I was a young man.” He also said he had “blood transfusions, going to the laboratories and so on and so forth”.
His absence then was however greeted with rounds of protest and calls for his resignation by different groups in the country.
