The Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), has expressed its commitment to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through partnerships with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of institutions in the private and public sectors.
The institute said it would explore all avenues to ensure that the facilities donated were put to maximum use in order to boost its IGR in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategic Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the
Enterprise Culture and Commercial Orientation which have been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
A statement issued by the PSIN Head (Press & Public Relations), Ekaete Umo, said the Administrator of PSIN, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Obatoyinbo, expressed the commitment during an interaction with journalists after receiving the donation of an 80-seat Computer Based Test centre from the African Capacity Building Foundation, an affiliate under the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The donation was aimed at assisting the Federal Government, through the OHCSF, in inculcating transparency in the conduct of examination for public officers.
Obatoyinbo said that given the current facility upgrade, the PSIN has the capacity to accommodate over 200 participants for a minimum of 5 sets a day for computer based tests.
He told the journalists that with ICT, the world has become a global village, asking that, as such, PSIN being the foremost Capacity Building Institute has to move with time so as to position the Nigerian Public Service to be responsive and carry out its functions in line with global best practices.
One important way to reposition the PSIN, he added, was in the area of expanding its ICT facilities to ensure transparent and timely conduct of examinations.
He said that the ACBF had identified a gap and in response donated the CBT Centre to fill the gap.
Obatoyinbo said that as a Capacity Building Institute, PSIN is being repositioned to play a key role in the achievement of the current transformation process of the HCSF Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen-Centered (EPIC).
He informed the journalists that his administration has reached out to MDAs, State Governments, Institutions and Organisations to establish partnerships in order to ensure regular use of the facilities in the CBT Centres.
Obatoyinbo added that the partnerships were already yielding positive impacts but however called on both public and private sectors, to take advantage of the facilities in PAIN for the conduct of trainings and promotion examinations.
According to him, the PSIN would ensure that the facilities donated to the institute are properly maintained to serve the Nigerian public.
