FG declares October 1 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, October 1, as a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’s 58th Independence anniversary.

Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (retired), made this announcement in Abuja on Thursday.

According to Dambazau, the Federal Government is committed to promoting national unity, economic growth, social and political development based on democratic principles.

He explained that in the past 58 years, the nation has made a lot of progress and positive impact not only on the lives of its citizens but also on infrastructural development as well as international relations.

While congratulating Nigerians on the anniversary, the minister appealed to the citizens to sustain efforts made by the current administration in preserving the country’s unity.
