Information from his family revealed that he got back from the United Kingdom two weeks ago but started exhibiting symptoms last Tuesday.

The family said they reported the case to the the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), which came to the house to take his blood specimen.

According to the family statement, the NCDC afterwards, never got back to the family but that as at yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, he was coughing profusely and the family again called the NCDC to inquire about his results, which incidentally turned out positive..

He was then rushed to Gwagwalada hospital, where he died at 2am Monday morning.

The NCDC had earlier today, announced via its verified Twitter handle, that the country had recorded her first case of death to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And while it did not mention name, the NCDC in the tweet revealed that the case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the UK.

He was said to have had underlying medical conditions of multiple myeloma and diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy.
