COVID-19: Buhari to speak to Nigerians 7pm tonight

President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari will speak to the people of Nigeria this evening. Time for the national broadcast is 7pm, according to a statement issued by the State House.

Signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the statement said, “President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 7pm."

The statement reads further: “Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.”

Nigerians have for some time now been calling on the president to speak directly to them as other world leaders are doing across the globe over the raging coronavirus pandemic.

What they got instead from his handlers was the excuse that his style of governance may not include addressing the people.

Whatever may be responsible for the sudden change of mind notwithstanding, Nigerians it would appear, anxiously await the broadcast this evening.
