Lagos begins phase two COVID-19 vaccination September 1

Lagos Gov Sanwo-olu

The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that phase two COVID-19 vaccination will commence in the state on Wednesday, September 1.

He said this in a Facebook post on Monday.

The governor encouraged residents to take the vaccine, saying that more people are being killed by the virus.

Part of the post read, “Earlier today, I presented an update on the rising level of Covid-19 infections in Lagos State. It is important that residents know the unpalatable epidemiology of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“This third wave has presented some challenges and I can confirm a record of 135 fatalities already which highlights the havoc being caused by the deadly strain of the virus spreading in the country.

“The current level of fatalities makes it necessary for us to take vaccinations very seriously. We have received a little above 300,000 doses of Moderna vaccine to boost herd immunity in Lagos and we will roll it out from Wednesday next week across 150 centres.

“Get vaccinated. Take the jab. It is for your good and our collective good. Good health is a harbinger of many other good things and we must ensure we remain safe and healthy.”
