Mo Salah’s winning penalty send Pharoahs through to AFCON quarter-finals

Egypt celebrate

Mohamed Salah scored the winning penalty in the shootout to send Egypt through to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations at Ivory Coast's expense.

Both sides had chances in an entertaining 120 minutes of action, with Badra Ali Sangare and Mohammed El Shenawy both enjoying fine games.

But in the shootout, Manchester United defender Eric Bailly paid the price for his casual penalty, which was saved by El Shenawy's replacement Gabaski, before Liverpool star Salah confirmed a quarter-final against Morocco for the Pharaohs moments later.

Match ended 0-0 at extra time but Egypt would go on to win 4-5 on penalties.
