The AfricanDevelopmentBank President, Akinwumi Adesina, has hosted some State Governors from Nigeria to an unprecedented high-level and game-changing meeting on Special Agro-Processing Zones (SAPZs) in Nigeria.
They are Messrs Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and Uche Orji, MD of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA)
In a post on his LinkdIn page, Dr. Victor Oladokun, who is senior advisor to the AfDB President on Communication and Stakeholder Engagement of the African Development Bank Group based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, the SAPZs will be government-enabled and private sector driven agro-processing zones located in zones of comparative agricultural advantage in order to increase productivity, move Nigerian agriculture higher up the agro-processing value chain, create jobs, reduce insecurity, and accelerate economic development in rural areas.
Oladokun further said in the post that Nigeria SAPZ project, which is endorsed and strongly supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria and several State Governments, will be launched formally in Abuja in February 2022.
