Form book was turn into shreds Sunday night as Equatorial Guinea against all expectations beat Africa Cup of Nations holders, Algeria 1:0 to cause the biggest upset at AFCON 2021.
The defeat not only ends Algeria’s 35-match unbeaten streak, it puts the cup’s defending champions at the brink of elimination.
Algeria have just one point in the competition courtesy of the goalless draw with equally unfancied Sierra Leone in their opening match.
Thus, Algeria remain without a single goal so far despite the array of stars they parade.
They now have a zero option in their last group match on Thursday when they will confront group leaders, Cote d’Ivoire.
