Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Iyorchia Ayu, May have no choice than live with what seems to be now a pain around his neck, Rivers State Gov Nyesom Wike, for a very long time to come. Lol.
The road leading to the PDP chairman’s abode in Makurdi has been named as Nyesom Wike road. The road was commissioned today, Nov 7, 2022, by no other than former governor of the Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswan, as part of projects of the incumbent governor, Samuel Ortom.
Ortom was hosting a colorful program on the occasion of the inauguration of the campaign council of the PDP in the state.
Conspicuously absent on the occasion was the national chairman of the party, Iyochia Ayu, who incidentally hails from the state, as well as the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and some PDP governors and bigwigs.
Earlier in his goodwill message, Suswan, who represents Benue North East district in the 9th National Assembly and who is also Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, had along with other federal lawmakers from the state that graced the event, had argued that although the PDP was experiencing a problem, the leading opposition party was also equipped with an internal mechanism to address it.
All the federal lawmakers were interestingly unanimous that in no distant time, the problem in the PDP would be resolve and warring members will be back together as one big happy family.
Gov Wike, supposed leader of the aggrieved PDP governors, while giving his own goodwill message, however said he’s not aware of any problem, saying instead that, “if there was any problem, “we won’t be here today,” referring to his other colleagues.
Wike, along with the other ‘rebel’ PDP governors of Abia, Enugu, Oyo, and, of course, the host Benue, called on voters to vote PDP and Gov Ortom, who seeks a senate seat in the 2023 elections.
