Obviously, it has not been the best of times for Nigeria’s movie industry, which has again, been thrown into mourning with news of the death of another actor, Murphy Afolabi.
The 49-year-old popular Yoruba actor reportedly died in the early hours of today, Sunday, May 14, 2023, in his residence.
Veteran film director and producer, Tunde Ola-Yusuf confirmed the passing via his Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
"Rest in peace. May God give the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss,” he wrote.
The deceased celebrated his birthday just over a week ago, precisely Friday, May 5.
Murphy, who started his career with a movie titled ‘Ifa Olokun’ under Dagunro’s guidance, featured in and produced scores of others.
News of Murphy Afolab’s death was coming just a day after the public announcement of the death of another Nollywood actor, Saint Obi, who reportedly died last Sunday at the home of one of his siblings after a protracted illness.
