The State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, made the pronouncement through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who received in audience National Officials of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria PSN.
The PSN officials, led by its president, Professor Cyril Usifor, were in Gombe state to perfect arrangements for their forthcoming national conference scheduled to hold in the State.
According to him, provision of quality and affordable health care services to the people sits at the heart of his administration's resolve towards attaining the universal health coverage.
He intimated his guests that his administration had earlier employed 260 health workers; among them pharmacists, adding that plans are underway to recruit another 200 to shore up manpower in the soon to be completed hospitals in Kaltungo Kumo and Bajoga.
He also explained that the current administration had provided at least one functional health center in each of the 114 political wards of the state.
He staid, in addition to the remodelling of the state specialist hospital, his administration is reinvigorating the general hospitals in Kaltungo and Bajoga while a new one is being constructed in Kumo to bring quality and affordable health care services to the people at the grassroot.
"For the want of time, these are just few out of the numerous interventions the Gombe State Governor has provided and is still providing to guarantee the health of the people,” Professor Njodi said.
Speaking earlier, president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Professor Cyril Usifor, said they were in the state for their annual general meeting (AGM) preparatory to their national conference scheduled to hold sometime this month in Gombe.
He commended the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for creating a business friendly environment for potential investors to explore and make fortune for themselves in Gombe State adding that, the Muhammadu Buhari industrial park is a revolutionary step taken by the governor to bring social and economic prosperity to the people of the state.
He said given the available necessary condition for the Ease of Doing Business in the state, the society will be left with no other choice than to market the potentials of the State to investors within and outside the country.
