Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Dr Azeezat Yishawu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for including more women and youths in his ministerial list sent to the National Assembly for screening.

She described development as an attestation of the president's strong will and belief in the strength and capacity of women and young people in bringing workable solutions to governance and the administration.

According to her, the appointment of these women and youths is key in delivering the renewed hope Nigerians yearned for at the polls in February this year.

Dr. Yishawu charged the women and youths, who made it in the ministerial list to be worthy ambassadors of the larger youth and women  constituency by delivering on the mandate bestowed upon them by the president.

She said much is expected from them because President Bola Tinubu is known for putting a round peg in a round hole. They should therefore justify their nomination by putting in their best at all times, she appealed.

"Going by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's track record of service, it is clear that he has earned the special recognition for women and youth inclusion in government. We therefore solicit for more youth inclusion", the NYP speaker said.

Dr. Yishawu also lauded the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, for taking special interest in youth, which resulted in the creation of a new committee in the House known as Youth in Parliament.

She said, "Hon. Tajudeen has taken an objective interest in mentoring young people in parliament and redefining the core interest of youths in governance to meet the standard of modern politics and leadership.

"He has succeeded in fostering legislative conversations around the growth and participation of Nigerian youths and women in a dimension that has never been witnessed in the country's legislative history", she pointed out.

While pledging the support and collaboration of the teaming Nigerian youth stakeholders to the Speaker to address the challenges and opportunities faced by young Nigerians, Dr. Azeezat applauded the appointment of Hon.Olamijuwon Alao Akala (also a youth), as the chairman of the House Committee on Youth in Parliament, which is an innovation of the current 10th National Assembly.
