Chairman of the Northern Governors' Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has felicitated with former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), on the occasion of his 89th birthday.
The former military head of state clocked eighty-nine (89) years on October 19, 2023.
In a birthday good will message, Governor Inuwa, on behalf of the 19 Northern State governors, described Gen. Gowon as an iconic figure in Nigeria's history, who played a significant role in unifying the country and shaping the nation's destiny with his visionary leadership when he served as head of state.
He noted the commitment of the former head of state to peace building, noting that Gowon remains a shining example of a true patriot and elder statesman, whose life is worthy of emulation.
He said, "General Gowon's sustaining efforts in promoting harmony, fostering cohesion among Nigerians through his National Prayer Movement initiative and other endeavors, continue to inspire understanding, good neighborliness and a high degree of unity and patriotism among the diverse people of the country. His dedication to the spiritual and moral wellbeing of the nation is higly inspiring.
The Northern State Governors Forum Chairman stated in a release and signed by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, said:
