Gombe State Governor presents N207.7bn 2024 budget estimate to State Assembly

Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has presented the State's 2024 budget estimate of N207,750,200,000.00b to the State House of Assembly.

Making the presentation, Monday (December 4) afternoon to members of the State legislature for approval, the governor said the proposal is made up of N87,250,200,000.00b for recurrent expenditure representing 42%, and N120,500,000,000.00b for capital expenditure, representing 58% of the total budgeted sum.

Tagged ‘budget of continuity and consolidation,’ Governor Inuwa explained that the 2024 budget, the first in his second term of four years, is coming at a time of great uncertainties and challenges, both locally and globally. 

According to him, the 2024 budget is therefore crafted with a keen understanding of local, national and global economic realities in order to develop and implement policies and programmes that are strategic, forward-looking and people-oriented.

The sectoral allocation in the proposal showed that the economic sector is allocated N89,581,200,000.00b; Social Sector N23,612,500,000.00b; General Administration N4,879,500,000.00b while Law and Justice N2,426,800,000.00b.

In the economic sector, the ministry of works, housing and transport got the highest allocation of N50,962,500,000.00b followed by water resources, environment and forest resources, which was allocated N18,365,600,000.00b.

In the social sector, the ministry of education was allocated the highest sum of N8,103,800,500.00b followed by the ministry of health which was allocated the sum of N5,953,200,500.00b.
