NCC at regional workshops advocates for comprehensive tax reform in telecom sector

Participants at the Kano workshop

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)
recently hosted a Regional Stakeholders Workshop on Multiple Taxation and Regulation in Kano aimed to advocate for a comprehensive review and implementation of lawful and non-discriminatory taxes in the telecommunications sector.

The workshop's objective was to ensure the harmonization of tax heads, including Right of Way (RoW) charges, and swift receipt of payments by rightful authorities at the State and Local Government levels.

This is also intended to create an environment supportive of investment and seamless deployment of telecoms infrastructure for improved Quality of Service (QoS) in the North Western States and Nigeria as a whole.

The NCC, therefore, urged telecoms stakeholders to address the challenge of multiple taxation and called for continuous engagement to eliminate its effects on economic development.

The workshop's focus on advocating for a comprehensive review and implementation of lawful and non-discriminatory taxes in the telecommunications sector, no doubt,  aligns with efforts to address the multiple-taxation challenge and create a conducive environment for investment and improved quality of service in the telecoms industry
