The United States Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has commissioned the 'American Corner' in Lekki area of Lagos, Nigeria, aimed at supporting youth innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity in the country. The event took place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
The tech-enabled space is part of the Biden administration's U.S. Strategy toward Sub-Saharan Africa's objective to drive digital transformation and stimulate an inclusive digital ecosystem.
Blinken, who is on his second day in Nigeria, was accompanied by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, and other U.S. government officials during the inauguration of the space.
The visit to Nigeria is part of Blinken's ongoing tour to Africa.
