Famous BBC Hausa Service broadcaster appointed DG, Gombe Media Corporation

Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of a famous journalist with Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Ibrahim Isa, as Director General of the Gombe State Media Corporation (GMC).

Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor's approval, said Ibrahim Isa's appointment, which takes immediate effect, was based on his outstanding personal qualities and extensive experience in the field.

Ibrahim Isa, who has spent over two decades in the journalism profession, is expected to bring his expertise to his new role, having excelled as a reporter, producer, newsreader, TV host and media manager.

A release made available to our Correspondent by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, said Ibrahim Isa is also expected to bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the Gombe State Media Corporation to foster a dynamic and vibrant media environment. 

Governor Inuwa also expressed confidence that Ibrahim Isa's leadership will contribute to GMC's growth and make it serve the public better with accurate and timely information.

In the same vein, Ismaila Uba said the Governor has approved the elevation of Dr. Ishiyaku Babayo Mohammed from the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Development Partners Coordination to Special Adviser on the same portfolio with immediate effect.

He said the decision, which was conveyed by the SSG, was grounded on Dr. Mohammed's outstanding achievements, exceptional commitment and effectiveness demonstrated within the short period since he was first appointed SSA.

He stated also that Governor Yahaya expressed confidence that Dr. Mohammed's elevation to the position of Special Adviser will further enhance the state's partnership drive and bolster its efforts in attracting resources and support from various development entities to contribute to the overall progress and well-being of Gombe State.
