Extreme Heat: Gombe communities beg for water

Eleven communities on Gombe-Bauchi road in Akko local government area of Gombe State are appealing to government and well to do individual to come to their aid with water.

The residents numbering over 2,000 are crying out amidst the excruciating heat wave being experienced, saying, any effort will go a long way to ease their suffering.

Speaking on behalf of the communities, Malam Idris Abubakar said the water scarcity in the affected communities is so severe that even if government can't reticulate pipe bone water to them or sink a borehole, drilling a few wells will go a long way in alleviating their suffering.

"It is the Ramadan fasting season, our predicament is even worse when we lack clean water to break our fast in the evening. 

"We are appealing, for the sake of God and the blessings derived from this holy month of Ramadan, someone should come to our aid before the heat will cause us harm.", Idris lamented.

The affected communities are; Akko, wuro bogga, Garin baraya, malam jamo, Gamadadi, konkeje and Tongo.

Other communities affected by the water scarcity are lawanti, Jalingo, Dunomari, boggage, marori which are not more than 10 kilometres afar from Gombe, the Gombe States capital.
