The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced that the recent tightness in the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, has been resolved.
In a statement released by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi O. Soneye, NNPC Ltd clarified that the supply challenges were due to logistics issues, which have now been addressed.
"The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) wishes to clarify that the tightness in the supply of Premium Motor Spirit currently being experienced in some areas across the country is as a result of logistics issues and that they have been resolved," the statement read.
The company also reiterated that the prices of petroleum products remain unchanged, and urged Nigerians to avoid panic buying, as there is a sufficient supply of products in the country.
"It also wishes to reiterate that the prices of petroleum products are not changing. It urges Nigerians to avoid panic buying as there is a sufficiency of products in the country," the statement added.
The NNPC Ltd's assurance comes as a relief to Nigerians who have been facing intermittent fuel shortages in recent weeks, leading to long queues at filling stations and increased prices in the black market.
The company's prompt action to resolve the logistics issues and its commitment to maintaining stable fuel supply and pricing are expected to ease the concerns of consumers and ensure a smooth flow of transportation and economic activities across the country.
