Madu Onuorah

The management of Globalupfront Newspapers has confirmed the release of their Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Madu Onuorah, who they claimed was abducted by the Ebonyi State Police Command on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, evening from his residence in Lugbe, Abuja

In a press statement,  Friday, May 24, 2024, the management disclosed that Mr. Onuorah was released late Thursday night on bail by the Enugu State Police Command, who they said, had requested the Ebonyi Police to abduct him. The statement also revealed that management is awaiting a full briefing from Mr. Onuorah and their lawyers before issuing a comprehensive statement on the matter and the next course of action.

The newspaper management also said they solidly stand by their Editor-in-Chief and the story they published, insisting that the police station is not a court of law where alleged defamation cases are tried

They however expressed gratitude to the journalism and media community, friends, well-wishers, and all defenders of freedom of expression who condemned the emerging tyranny.
