Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State recently received the People’s Governor of the Year award in London, UK, presented by Triangle Media International and Face of Africa Leadership.
This prestigious award acknowledges his administration's significant strides in redefining Bayelsa's developmental narrative.
Additionally, Governor Diri was honored with the Icon of Unity and Social Justice by the Ijaw National Congress of the Americas in Houston, Texas, further highlighting his commitment to progress and social justice.
Gov Diri, who was represented on the occasion by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah had these to say on the the awards:
“My administration’s modest effort at redefining the developmental narrative of Bayelsa State continues to attract honour and recognition.
“On Friday, May 17, 2024, in London, United Kingdom, I received the People’s Governor of the Year award bestowed by the Triangle Media International in partnership with the Face of Africa Leadership.
“The annual event aims to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements in various fields, promoting African excellence and inspiring others to strive for greatness.
“My Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, represented me at the event.
“The award comes just a week after I was honoured with the Icon of Unity and Social Justice by the Ijaw National Congress of the Americas in Houston, Texas.
“I express profound appreciation to Triangle News Magazine and the Face of Africa Leadership for the recognition.
“As I have always stated, these accolades spur me and my administration to greater commitment to our focused vision for a better Bayelsa State.
“After eight years, our story as a state will be better told.”
