Historic Milestone: NNPC E&P Ltd, NOSL achieve first oil production at OML 13 in Akwa Ibom State


In a significant development, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NNPC E&P Ltd) and Natural Oilfield Services Ltd (NOSL) have successfully commenced oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. 

This milestone marks the beginning of a new era in the partnership between NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL, highlighting their commitment to Nigeria's oil and gas sector.

Production at OML 13 began on May 6, 2024, with an initial output of 6,000 barrels of oil per day. The partners aim to significantly ramp up production to 40,000 barrels per day by May 27, 2024, demonstrating their ambition to make a substantial impact on Nigeria's oil production landscape. 

This achievement underscores the dedication of NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL to driving growth and development in the country's energy sector.

A press release signed by Olufemi O. Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, states that the achievement does not only signify the culmination of rigorous planning and execution by the teams involved, but also represents a new era of economic empowerment and development opportunities for the host communities.
 
“Furthermore, for Nigeria, the first oil from OML 13 holds some significance as it contributes to the country's efforts to increase its oil production capacity, which is crucial for meeting domestic energy needs and driving economic growth,” the release added.

The NNPC E&P Ltd and NOSL partnership, Newsmart gathered, is also committed to operating in a manner that is safe, environmentally responsible, and beneficial to the local communities.
