Legendary "New Masquerade" actress, Elizabeth "Ovularia" Evoeme, passes away at 81

In a somber announcement that has reverberated through the entertainment industry, Elizabeth "Ovularia" Evoeme, renowned for her role in the iconic 1980s TV sitcom "The New Masquerade," has passed away at the age of 81

IThe news of her demise was confirmed by her family in a statement released on Tuesday, May 8, 2024, marking a significant loss for fans and colleagues alike. 

Evoeme, whose portrayal of Ovularia endeared her to audiences across Nigeria, leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and a lasting impact on the country's television landscape. 

Her family expressed their deep sorrow at her passing and extended their gratitude for the support and respect shown during this difficult time.

The actress, born on December 1, 1942, had previously faced false reports of her death in 2019, which she promptly refuted, emphasizing her well-being and dismissing the rumors. 

Chika Okpala, known for his role as Zebrudaya Nwaogbe in "The New Masquerade," also stood by Evoeme, discrediting the misinformation surrounding her health.
