Team Nigeria shines at 2024 African Championships, wins gold and silver medals in 4x100m


Nigeria's men's and women's 4x100m relay teams delivered outstanding performances on Day 4 of the 2024 African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon. 

The women's team, comprising Justina Eyakpobeyan, Tima Godbless, Olayinka Olajide, and Tobi Amusan, raced to victory in the 4x100m relay, winning the GOLD medal with a time of 42.76s, finishing ahead of Ghana and Liberia.

In the men's 4x100m relay, the Nigerian quartet of Kanyinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume claimed the SILVER medal, crossing the line in 38.84s, just behind Ghana.

Additionally, Alex Chukwukelu made his 110m debut for Nigeria, finishing 3rd in his heat with a time of 13.80s and progressing to Tuesday's (today) final as one of the non-automatic qualifiers.
