President Tinubu appoints Didi Esther Walson-Jack as new Head of Civil Service

Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 14, 2024, a press release signed by
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has said.

Mrs. Walson-Jack, who was appointed as Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017, will succeed the outgoing Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, who is set to retire on August 13, 2024.

While thanking Dr. Yemi-Esan for her service, President Tinubu has tasked Mrs. Walson-Jack to discharge her duties with innovative flair, integrity, and strict adherence to the rules and regulations of the Civil Service.

The appointment comes amidst allegations of nepotism against the President, whose appointments, so far, many have alleged, tilt towards one ethnic section of the federation.

Mrs. Walson-Jack, who has served in various ministries, is expected to bring her experience and leadership to the role.

“President Tinubu, while thanking the outgoing Head of Service for her stewardship, tasks the incoming Head of Service to discharge her duties with innovative flair, integrity, and stringent adherence to the extant rules and regulations of the Civil Service of the Federation,” the press statement concluded.
