Favour Ofili advances to 200m semifinals at Paris 2024

Favour Ofili wins her heat

Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has secured her place in the semifinals of the women's 200m at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

She dominated Heat 6, finishing first with a time of 22.24 seconds.

Ofili outpaced Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, who clocked in at 22.28 seconds, and Gina Bass-Bittaye of Guinea, who finished third in 22.84 seconds.

Her time was the 2nd fastest overall in the six 200m heats this morning, with only Gabby Thomas of the USA (22.20s) running faster than her.

With this performance, Ofili continues to prove why she is regarded as a rising star in athletics, despite the shoddy disposition of the Nigerian officials that led to her missing the 100m race.
