US Vice President Kamala Harris has officially been nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate, achieving the required support of 2,350 delegates.

The virtual roll call, which continues until Monday, confirmed her position after President Joe Biden's withdrawal and endorsement.

This nomination marks Harris as the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead a major-party ticket.

Biden expressed pride in her candidacy, and Harris is expected to announce her running mate soon.

Biden said one of the best decisions he made was picking Harris as his vice president.

“Now that she will be our party’s nominee, I couldn’t be prouder,” he said.

Her campaign reported raising over $310 million in July, significantly outpacing the Trump campaign's fundraising efforts.
