Women Basket Ball: Nigeria's historic Olympic journey ends with strong performance against USA

Nigeria’s Kalu showed class and emerged as one of the highest scorer of the game

In the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Nigeria's women’s basketball team, #DTigress, faced the USA, losing 74-88. This marked the end of the road for the Nigerian basket ball female team’s quest for  a medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic games.

Despite the defeat, however, Nigeria showcased remarkable resilience, outscoring the world number one team 26-12 in the fourth quarter.

As the first African team to reach the Olympic quarterfinals, their achievement is monumental, akin to winning a medal. 


This performance highlights the rising prominence of Nigerian basketball on the global stage, leaving fans hopeful for the future. 

It is only hope the Nigerian authorities can properly exploit and build on this potential, and those of other Nigerian athletes individually showcased at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics for future credit
