Francisca Owumi, a notable figure from the inaugural season of Big Brother Naija, has passed away.
Her family announced her death on social media with a heartfelt message: “A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.”
Owumi, who was the runner-up in the first season of BBNaija in 2006, died on August 29, 2024, following a brief illness.
Known for her vibrant personality and energetic dance moves, Francisca was a memorable part of the BBNaija house, competing alongside other notable housemates such as the season’s winner, Katung Aduwak, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Gideon Okeke, Maureen Osuji, Ify Ejikeme, and the late Joseph Ada.
After her stint on the reality show, Francisca briefly ventured into the Nigerian music industry, releasing singles like “Diva” and “Gbadun You”.
Her passing marks another loss in the entertainment industry, which has seen several notable figures pass away recently.
Since January 2024, Nollywood has lost dozens of celebrities, including Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, and Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi‘ Oyeyemi.
Others are Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, Reginald Ebere, and Ethel Ekpe.
