Reports reaching Newsmart has it that the Super Eagles of Nigeria have announced their decision to boycott the return leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, following a harrowing experience at Al-Abraq airport.
Players were stranded for over 13 hours without food, sleep, or internet access after their flight was diverted from Benghazi.
Captain William Troost-Ekong described the airport as abandoned, with locked gates preventing their exit.
Newsmart gathered that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is now arranging for the team to return home, as players express outrage over their treatment by Libyan authorities.
