Rodri makes history as first EPL player to win Ballon d'Or in 16 years, Bonmati wins again in women’s category

Rodri Hernandez, Manchester City's midfielder, has won the 2024 Ballon d'Or, becoming the first Premier League player to claim this honor since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008. 

The 28-year-old Spanish international triumphed over Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Dani Carvajal during the ceremony held in Paris on October 28, 2024. 

Rodri's stellar season included leading Manchester City to a fourth consecutive league title and playing a pivotal role in Spain's Euro 2024 victory, where he was named Player of the Tournament. 

He also holds the astonishing record of featuring 74 straight games without a loss. He was instrumental in Spain’s victory at the 2024 European Championships. He was also named player of the tournament.

Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman ranked 14th in the men’s Ballon d’Or list.

Aitana Bonmati, Barcelona’s midfielder, won the Ballon d’Or Femeni. The victory was her second consecutive Golden Ball prize in the women’s category.

Lamine Yamal claimed the Kopa Trophy, the award for best-performing player under the age of 21.

The 17-year-old beat off competition from Arda Guler and Pau Curbasi to claim the award.

Emiliano Martinez won the best goalkeeper award while finishing 18th in this year’s Ballon d’Or.
