NCC empowers media stakeholders with telecom up-skilling training

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) launched a two-day training program on telecom industry trends for media stakeholders on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

The event, aimed at enhancing participants' skills in data journalism, news gathering, and understanding the telecom landscape, featured insights from industry experts.

The first day of the two-day training, which is intended to keep participants abreast of trends, regulatory strides, challenges, and prospects for consolidating the gains in the telecoms industry, focused on issues such as data journalism and visualization, news gathering techniques, Nigerian Telecoms Industry overview among others.

Reuben Muoka, NCC's Director of Public Affairs, emphasized the training as a commitment to transparency and collaboration with media partners.

He said that the upscaling became necessary as an opportunity to provide media stakeholders with updated skills and knowledge of the industry as partners involved in bridging the gap between the various stakeholders.

Participants engaged actively in discussions and Q&A sessions, reinforcing the importance of informed reporting in the evolving telecom sector.
