I pick the information below from Senator Babafemi Ojodu’s LinkedIn page and I can’t help but agree with him wholeheartedly.
Watching or reading Nigerian news I’m recent times has become more depressing than depression itself. If you happened to watch this incident on Television Friday, Nov 1, 2024, you may not just know which direction to face - north, west, south or east - to cry for Nigeria.
Meanwhile, read Senator Ojodu’s view on the matter which is so apt. He wrote:
“What kind of country are we becoming? A Federal High Court judge recently granted bail to minors, each set at an astounding N10 million after more than three months in jail without trial.
“These are young urchins who can’t even afford a loaf of bread, drawn to a protest by sheer curiosity and picked at random off the streets. It’s shocking, yet the tragedy is that we, as Nigerians, have grown numb to being shocked.
“The judiciary once stood as a beacon of wisdom and justice. Today, it feels like a mere shadow of what it once was. Can anyone recall a profound statement from a judge in recent times that has truly resonated or inspired faith in the system?
“Like many other pillars of our society, the judiciary has descended into disrepair. The work ahead to rescue this nation is not just immense—it is urgent.”
