Federal Executive Council approves ₦47.9 trillion budget for 2025 amid presentation delays

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved Nigeria’s 2025 budget, totaling ₦47.9 trillion.

This budget, set to be presented by President Bola Tinubu, projects a deficit of ₦13.13 trillion, or 3.89% of GDP, an improvement from the ₦6.1 trillion deficit inherited from the 2023 budget.

However, the presentation to the National Assembly, initially scheduled for December 17, may be delayed due to ongoing discussions between the Executive and legislative leaders.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, indicated that the presentation might occur on Wednesday instead.
