Tacha Akide, the vibrant former Big Brother Naija housemate, has revealed her reasons for relocating to the UK.
In a recent interview, she expressed dissatisfaction with Nigeria’s influencing industry, citing low pay that doesn’t match her lifestyle costs.
Tacha stated, “I have conquered the Nigerian market,” but remains open to lucrative local deals. She criticized the current influencer rates, saying that what once seemed substantial now barely covers expenses abroad.
In an interview with the British media personality Madame Joyce, Tacha revealed, “I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market. Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?” Tacha said.
“The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor. Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month.
“The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing. N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”
Since her BBNaija fame in 2019, Tacha has ventured into fashion and sports, recently launching Tacha FC.
