On December 11, 2024, Nigeria experienced another national grid collapse, marking the 12th occurrence this year.
The grid failures have been a recurring issue, with three collapses reported in just one week in October, causing widespread blackouts and public outcry.
A tweet from Nigeria’s National Grid confirmed the latest collapse at around 2:09 pm on Wednesday, December 11.
“The major grid setback has occurred and the restoration is to commence,” the handler wrote.
Efforts to restore power are underway, but this persistent problem highlights significant vulnerabilities in the country’s energy infrastructure.
