| Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest |
A dramatic online confrontation has erupted between Grammy-winning artist, Damini Ogulu also known as Burna Boy and celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, sparking intense social media drama.
The dispute began when Burna Boy referred to Cubana Chief Priest as “Owerri Rick Ross” and suggested he was merely an “Azaman” (middleman).
Burna Boy made the cryptic Instagram post on Friday, January 3, 2025, allegedly referring to Cubana Chief Priest as “Owerri Rick Ross” and accused him of some illegality.
Burna wrote, “No forget say u be Azaman o And dem don gbe your plug wey him name na ‘Omo Igbo’ for ATL and na u be next #OwerriRickyrozay.’
The jab, to many, was directed at the socialite due to his close friendship with singer Davido.
Expectedly, Cubana Chief priest responded on his own page, claiming that Burna Boy was simply pained.
He also referred to a 2018 video claiming he paid Burna Boy N1 million to perform as a “backup act” at his birthday party, mockingly telling the singer to “be humble”.
The feud took an even more provocative turn when Cubana made references to Burna Boy’s Grammy award and Diddy, stating “Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD”.
Mocking Burna Boy further, Cubana Chief Priest alleged: “Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD. you never see anything, you and your bend down collect Grammy.”
Cubana Chief Priest went on to share old videos of Burna Boy performing at one of his events. He claimed he paid Burna Boy ₦1 million in 2018 to perform as a backup artist at his birthday party, suggesting Burna’s current success is recent compared to his long-standing wealth.
Writing further, Cubana Chief Priest said:“Owerri Rick Ross, What a blessing !!!!. See where dem dey rate me put. Me & Rosay #CpNosmall.
“2018 na 1m naira I pay you to perform as back up artist for my birthday. I get pictures & videos where you dey perform for me. I go lie for you.
‘We don dey chop this money before you meet us for queue be humble small boy.”
He added “It’s so clear because how is it even possible that someone who brags to be so rich go dey live in so much pain. Wetin dey pain you? Shebi na you be African princess. Only you rush bend down collect Grammy only you still dey cry. Oil full your Grammy we know how painful it was that’s why you want everybody to feel the pain with you. You really suffer I understand you.”
Also in one of his posts, Cubana Chief Priest claimed that Burna Boy was owing debt for jewelry.
He wrote, “The Ferrari’s. The London jewelers debt. I’m coming. I have long waited for this moment. Osubrileeee oooo”
And of course, Burna Boy had a response, and denied the allegations, claiming that he pays for all his purchases upfront.
‘Yabbing’ back, Burna Boy write: “You don score yourself. Everybody in Lagos knows my style. all my shit paid for, sometimes cash sef. If not I for dey all the blogs by now for owing debts like your boss. Go to Cooscharis and service any of your stolen cars abeg I wan see something. “Rooozaaay Igbo voice”. Make I relax actually , I no want make you go jail.”
Adding fuel to the fire, which has since fueled conversations online, Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Stan Alieke, has now challenged Burna Boy to arrest Cubana Chief Priest, sarcastically referencing Burna’s previous legal actions against Speed Darlington.
The public drama continues to unfold on social media, with both parties trading increasingly personal and inflammatory comments.
