[PHOTOS]: Nigeria and Sweden partner to enhance connectivity with SWEDFUND grant

In a bid to revolutionize network performance and expand connectivity across Nigeria, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Swedish Embassy in Nigeria have entered into a landmark grant agreement with SWEDFUND. 

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC)/CEO of NCC, and Annika Hahn-Englund, the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, formalized the partnership last week, signaling a new era for telecommunications regulation and service delivery in the country.

The Crowdsourcing Quality of Experience Project is designed to harness real-time data from end-user devices to provide an accurate and up-to-date overview of network performance across Nigeria. 

This data will empower the NCC to monitor network performance in real-time, enabling the identification and swift resolution of issues such as dropped calls, slow internet speeds, and areas with weak coverage.

By leveraging crowdsourced data, the NCC will be equipped to make informed regulatory decisions and hold telecom providers accountable for service delivery standards, ultimately ensuring that consumers receive the quality of service they expect and deserve. The initiative is particularly focused on expanding connectivity in underserved areas, addressing the digital divide and promoting inclusive growth.

The partnership between the NCC, the Swedish Embassy, and SWEDFUND expectedly, represents a significant step forward in enhancing connectivity in Nigeria. 

With its potential to improve network performance, empower regulators, and expand access to telecommunications services, the Crowdsourcing Quality of Experience Project is poised to set a benchmark for similar initiatives across Africa.
