Geometric Power staff hailed for swiftly containing fire outbreak

A power plant fire incident 

A fire outbreak at the premises of Geometric Power, Nigeria’s foremost integrated power company, was success
fully contained early this morning.

The incident occurred in a temporary building within the Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba, Abia State.

The affected building, which had been used by a defunct South African electricity firm, Group 5, during the construction phase of the integrated power company, had been largely unused for over 12 years. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.

However, the swift response of Geometric Power staff prevented the fire from spreading, according to management of the company, thus, containing it before the arrival of the Abia State Fire Service, which responded promptly to the emergency call.

In the press statement, Geometric Power management expressed its gratitude to its staff members for their vigilance and valiant efforts in containing the fire. Appreciation was also extended to the Abia State Fire Service for their quick response and professionalism, as well as to members of the public for their concern and support.

The management of Geometric Power reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to providing consistent, high-quality, and affordable electricity within the Aba Power Ring-fenced Area and beyond. 

The company, the statement also explains, aims to contribute significantly to the rapid socioeconomic advancement of Nigeria, adding that the company’s subsidiary, Aba Power Ltd, will start supplying power to consumers in the Aba Ring-fenced Area this weekend from one of its three turbines, ahead of schedule.
