Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan snubs Senate probe amidst heated controversy

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was notably absent on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, as the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct began its investigation into her alleged refusal to comply with Senate rules.

The probe stems from a heated dispute over seating arrangements and allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which the Senate has dismissed due to procedural issues.

Committee Chairman Senator Neda Imaseun expressed disappointment over her absence, stating, “We waited, and unfortunately, she is not here. I hope that before we conclude this procedure, she will join us.”

Despite this, the committee proceeded, citing its authority to address petitions referred by the Senate.

In a related development, a Federal High Court has restrained the Senate from proceeding with disciplinary actions against Akpoti-Uduaghan
